Uponor opens a training centre specialising in the high-rise segment in Germany

Uponor has opened a new training centre in Germany, which is the Group's
largest and first ever facility offering training for professionals in the
company's new growth area, the high-rise segment. Comprising more than 600
square meters, the entire building will be used for training purposes. The
facility is installed with comprehensive control systems and a total of 17
kilometres of pipes, used to adjust heating and cooling and to transport fresh
water. The training centre in Ochtrup in north-western Germany is Uponor's
fourth Academy location in the country, bringing the total Academy count to 18
internationally.

The latest Uponor Academy will feature internationally unequalled simulation
technology for drinking water, heating and cooling installations. Main target
groups of the centre include engineers, architects and other construction
sector professionals. The unique temperature difference simulation enables the
illustration of hydronic heating system installations both in detached houses
and high-rise office buildings and also affords the creation of comfortable
room temperatures as well as extreme temperature conditions. The simulation
technology was developed in cooperation by the University of Applied Sciences
of Cologne and the Münster University of Applied Sciences Steinfurt.

Due to the convenient geographical location of the centre, its wide variety of
courses is available to seminar attendants from various markets.

The Academy provides information on control engineering by focusing for
instance on the reaction and heating technology of various floor structures.
Energy-efficient solutions, such as heat pumps, are another timely issue.
Drinking water hygiene and impacts of using various materials with different
installation methods are also presented in seminars by way of examples. Various
solutions ranging from small installations in detached houses to installation
models for large-scale construction sites are discussed. All topics are
designed to offer the attendants an overview of the system solutions planning
phase as well as the day-to-day system operation. All installations and the
technical equipment used are left visible for easy monitoring and observation.

The training programmes are certified by the Central Organisation for Plumbing,
Heating and Climate of Germany (ZVSHK) and the Association of German Engineers
(VDI).

In addition to conventional seminars, Uponor provides information in the fields
of engineering, implementation and consultation. Attendants are also trained to
provide customers with customised solutions. Furthermore, technical courses are
complemented by sessions in sales practices, marketing and customer
relationship management.
