Uponor CFO Riitta Palomäki addresses the current plastic raw material shortage

Uponor CFO Riitta Palomäki addressed the supply/demand issue of plastic resins in her presentation at Danske Bank Market’s seminar ‘Navigating the Nordics’, held in Stockholm today.

Repeating what Uponor has stated earlier in the first quarter about European resin producers’ production interruptions that have affected resin supply since April, and mainly concerning the Uponor Infra segment, she emphasised the fact that the availability problems and high prices seem to continue also during the summer months.

Uponor has implemented price increases in various markets and has been able to keep service levels towards its own customers satisfactory. In addition to higher raw material prices, managing the situation has incurred additional production-related costs and also finished goods inventories are lower than planned, all of this likely to affect gross profit margin towards the end of the second quarter.
