Uponor divests its machinery company, Extron Engineering Oy

Uponor Infra Oy, a subsidiary of Uponor Corporation, has today sold its fully owned Finnish subsidiary, Extron Engineering Oy to Mecanor Oy, also based in Finland.

Both Extron Engineering Oy and Mecanor Oy are in the business of designing and manufacturing machinery for the plastic products industry.

The parties also signed a co-operation agreement for the further development of certain key technologies.

The divestment does not impact Uponor Group’s guidance for the year 2015 and it does not generate sales gains or losses of note. The net sales of the divested business in 2014 amounted to €5.6 million and it employs 19 persons in its Toijala premises.

Uponor Infra Oy made a decision to divest Extron in accordance with its strategy to focus on core businesses and markets where it can command a strong market position and achieve operational synergies. Uponor Infra will also in the future continue to license and sell certain technologies relevant to the infrastructure business.
